It has been an interesting path, that has led me to this part of my journey. Since as long as I can remember, I have always loved taking photographs. I think there is possibly a photo of me floating around somewhere with my first camera in my hand; and if I remember rightly, it was pink!


I've never really been one to follow the crowd and was always put off by the thought of becoming a professional photographer. Working in a studio all day long capturing images that represent a likeness of a person, with no context to their personality or character. Growing up I hated those 'yearly family photoshoots' wearing smart clothes and posing as directed by the photographer. It makes me shudder at the thought!


All of my adult life, I have worked as a groom in a few different yards looking after horses. It wasn't until I turned 30 that I finally got my hands on my first proper camera. I actually started photographing my friends competing their ponies at local shows. Eventually my friends pestered me to put my name forward for event photography at local shows and 'The Fuzzy Sheep Creative Company' was born! Whilst I loved capturing the action, and being paid for it was such a buzz, something was missing.


I started to dabble in equine portraits, I loved that it gave me time to capture the relationship and character between horse and owner, soon I started including dogs and farm animals too! By this point I had re branded to 'The Fuzzy Sheep Photography'.

In Spring of 2022 I could no longer escape the feeling that 'The Fuzzy Sheep Photography' didn't feel right anymore. I soon rebranded as 'Emma Laws Photography', and to be honest I haven't looked back. During the 2nd lockdown I started walking every day in a bid to get my health back on track (ps it worked!) I spoke to so many people whilst out walking, so many interesting stories - I was so inspired by these stories, inspired to document them using my camera.


It left me asking. Would people really want family photoshoots outdoors? Out exploring the countryside, and allowed to be 100% themselves, telling their story their way?


YES!! They really do, and it's the most rewarding thing ever!
